IFC shares the primary objective of all World Bank Group institutions: to reduce poverty and improve the lives of people in its developing member countries. Since 1956, IFC has committed more than USD 44 billion of its own funds and has arranged USD 23 billion in syndications for 3,143 companies in 140 developing countries. Its 176 member countries provide its share capital and collectively determine its policies.
